August, 2000: Scandinavian Adventure

Stockholm, Sweden

We returned on Thursday, August 10, 2000 from this pleasant tour of Scandinavia. Thirty-eight of us began the tour on August 2 with a bus ride from Vincentown, NJ to Newark International Airport. After arriving in Copenhagen, we immediately took a walking tour of the city. Many of us had our pictures taken at the statue of H.C. Andersen in the town square. Our Swedish tour director, Karin Svensson, was charming and extremely helpful.

One night we visited Tivoli Gardens, the famous inner-city amusement park. After two days in Copenhagen, we took an overnight cruise up to Oslo, Norway. We were all quite pleased with the ship (the meals and entertainment were great!). We only spent a day in Oslo, then embarked on a long all-day bus ride to Stockholm. The weather was wonderful throughout the tour, more like late October in the states than early August. Our Stockholm vist included a few boat tours in probably the loveliest city of the three we visted on this adventure. Exhausted, we returned home on August 10th (after an unplanned delay and plane exchange in Heathrow Airport). Our travel journals now boast of three more "exotic" countries -- and after the anticpation and realization, we are now in the "remembrance" mode.
