On August 17, 2002, there will be a reunion of the descendants of Joe and Loretta Laufer in Northeastern Pennsylvania, near the family roots in Wilkes-Barre. The reunion will take place at Camp St. George in Mountaintop, Pa., not far from Aunt Karen and Uncle John's home.
At the beginning of 2002, the statistics read:
5 children
20 grandchildren
17 great grandchildren
This is the family homestead, 13 Grove Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Shortly after his marriage in 1933, Joe purchased the home
from his Aunt Lizzie (Spindler) Brader. All five of the Laufer children
were raised in this house. It was sold after Loretta's death in 1995.

In addition to the family home in Wilkes-Barre, from 1947 until 1972, the family had a summer home at Falls, Pa., about 22 miles north on the Susquehanna River. Click here for the story of Falls!

REUNION INFORMATION
- Start collecting family pictures that will bring back memories to everyone. Your videos are also welcome. If you would like to post any pictures on this reunion website, get them to Uncle Joe.
- Interested in staying over? Aunt Karen is looking into blocking some motel rooms for the family. Let her know if you are interested.
- Watch for a reunion message board soon to be posted on this site. It will be a place to interact with family concerning reunion issues and ideas.
- Aunt Karen needs some volunteers. If you have an area of special interest you'd like to help organize or coordinate, let her know. She'll soon come up with a list of volunteer needs.
- Do you have a Grosse Pop and Grandma story to share? Start thinking and putting it together. We can post it here or you can tell it at the reunion.
- Currently there are three possibilities for the Family Mass which will precede the reunion. There's a grotto at Camp St. George, if we can get a priest to have the Mass there; St. Jude's, Mountaintop is right across the street from Camp St. George; and, of course, for sentimental value, there's St. Nicholas Church on South Washington St. Let Aunt Karen know your preference.
