A Walk to Remember: My Journey through Cornwall |
These pictures chronicle a loooong walk I took one day in July 2003, from a bed and breakfast in St. Austell, Cornwall, England, to the tiny fishing village of Mevagissey, about 6.5 kilometers away. I began my walk at about 6:00 in the morning and arrived in the village at about 7:30. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced in my entire life, and the day left me simply giddy with the wonder of nature and of England. |

Just one of the many beautiful gardens that reside in people's yards. They certainly are a gardening people in England. |

St. Austell. I got off the train at about 4:00 in the afternoon and immediately discovered that there were no trains back that evening, as the train station was closing. This had its ups and downs, but I certainly made the most of it. After a long, misguided walk, I finally found a bed and breakfast, had dinner at a pub, and watched some good British TV before finally catching just a few hours' sleep. I got up promptly at 6:00 and, after two cups of tea, packed my backpacked and headed off towards Mevagissey. |

A pretty little stream I passed early on. My bed and breakfast was near where that clump of buildings is in the background. |
