"The Others" was a very short-lived show that came on NBC in the spring of 2000. It lasted only half a season, 13 episodes, and the ratings were low enough that the network justified removing it from the airwaves. It was cancelled that May, along with fellow supernatural space-fillers, "The Pretender" and "The Profiler", and replaced with the even shorter-lived XFL, or Extreme Football League. Perhaps, had the network forseen that the XFL would gain what were widely advertised as the lowest ratings ever for a network show, they would have chosen to keep their previous Saturday line-up.
