One of the best opportunities for students to begin their journey of maturity and character at D&E is through the Freshman Woods Outdoor Orientation Program. Taking place in the Allegheny Highlands of West Virginia, this aspect of D&E Outdoor Resources provides an exciting adventure shared with other incoming students, professors and administrators who want to provide a solid foundation for each student's college education. Teamwork is one foundational aspect which is emphasized through various activities such as the tarp exercise. Participants are all crowded onto one small tarp, and several other members outside the group have to completely flip the tarp without anyone stepping off - people become acquainted with each other VERY quickly during this activity! Forced to problem solve and cooperate, these students merge into one cohesive team faced with a challenge.
