There are two distinct varities, one is hairless except for its feet, head and tail.The other is a powderpuff, it has a coat of long soft hair. They both come in numerous colors either solid, mixed or spotted all over.They both strangely come from the same litter.A toy dog, fine boned, elegant and graceful. Ideally there size is 11 to 13 inches. They are rectangular proportioned to allow for freedom of movement. Body length from the shoulders to the tail is slightly longer than the height at the shoulders. They are fine boned and slender but not so refined as to appear breakable or not a robust, heavy structure. They are alert and intense. They have almond shaped eyes, set wide apart. Dark colored dogs have dark colored eyes, and lighter colored dogs may have lighter colored eyes. Their eye rims should match their skin coloring.Their ears should be uncropped large and erect, placed so that the base of the ear is level with the outside corner of the eye. The skull is arched gently over the occiput from ear to ear. The head is wedged shaped. Their muzzle is long and slender with cheeks taperd cleanly into the muzzle.The nose is dark in dark colored dogs and lighter in lighter colored dogs. The pigment should be solid.Their bite should be level in both varities. Missing teeth should only appear in the hairless.In the hairless the crest, plume and socks are a single coat, soft and straight. The crest on a hairless may be anything from a strip of hair from the stop to neck to a full head of hair, complete with face furnishings and ear fringes. Socks may be just on the feet and sparse or heavy reaching up to about the pastern. The tail plume matches the crest and socks in density and length. A hairless a heavy crest and furnishings is more likely to have body hair. It may be a strip down the back or on the hips and shoulders. This does not make the dag a powderpuff. The powderpuff coat is a double coat with a soft, silky outercoat. Coat length and density do vary in powderpuffs. |
