One of the most beautiful churches in Paris, the church of St-Eustache stands above the whole neighborhood of the Halles. In true gothic style, the building's first tone was laid in 1532. The construction was finished over 100 years later in 1637. The original façade of the church was destroyed in order to be rebuilt in a Renaissance style in 1754, with clasically-styled columns. An agricultural temple during the Revolution, the church burned in 1844 but was later restored by Baltard.
