Indonesia says the Muslim world is
afraid that the US-led war on terrorism could become an assault on
Islam.
Indonesia's Defence Minister, Matori Abdul Djalil, says the
anti-terrorism campaign has had a profound impact on the
relationship between Islam and the West.
Speaking at an Asia Pacific Defence conference in Singapore, Mr
Matori, says Islamic sensitivies effect the actions that Indonesia
can take.
There is a concern across the
Muslim world that the American led war on terrorism would become a
prelude to world wide assaults on Islam and the Muslim world
itself. There is also a deep concern within the Islamic community
that the West will use this opportunity to subjugate the Muslim
worlds.
