A Muslim mob has attacked a Christian
area in the city of Ambon in Indonesia's troubled Moluccas region,
killing at least 11 people.
A local journalist told Reuters the mob - armed with home-made
bombs - set fire to houses.
A second witness said dozens of police and troops had been
deployed to secure the area.
Police in Ambon said one church was burned in the attack which is
a further setback for hopes of a peace deal brokered between
Muslims and Christians in February.
Over the past three years, at least 5,000 people have been killed
by religious violence in Ambon, and in the Moluccas islands of
which it is the hub.
