2006 INDIAN LAWYERS' FORUM CELEBRATED ONAM WITH GRANDEUR 2006

'Law Graduates' Forum', the association of Indian Lawyers and Law Graduates in Kuwait celebrated ONAM 2006, Kerala's harvest festival at United Indian School Abbassiya. Members and their families turned out in traditional Onam dress enriched and graced the occasion with their vibrant participation. The function was presided over by the President Advocate Palavilayil Thomas Panicker.

The function was inaugurated jointly by Advocate Sashidhara Panicker, Tina Belant, Sunny Mathews, Kunjumohammed, Adv.Bishnudas and Adv Unnikrishnan by lighting the traditional lamp.

President in his address welcomed everybody to the function and thanked the members for the large turn out. The President while highlighting the activities of the Forum emphasized the necessity and utility of the Forum's activities to the members & local Indian Community in Kuwait and reiterated that the Forum would continue its endeavor to provide legal advice/guidance to the needy members of the Indian Community.

President said that the LAW GRADUATES' FORUM is the only known association of NRI lawyers anywhere outside India.

Main objective of the Indian Lawyers' Forum is to work as a binding force among the Indian Lawyers and law graduates in Kuwait. It is also the aim of this forum to unite the Indian lawyers, law graduates and their families in Kuwait, introduce them, promote and develop inter personal relationship, serve as a platform to express their legal outlook and share ideas, interact and help each other and act as a place for family get together.

LGF is rendering required Legal information to the needy Indians in Kuwait.LGF is also successful in conducting legal seminars enabling members to update their legal knowledge. Many of LGF members have more than 10 years of Court practice experience in India and 20-25 among them are working with Local Law Firms in Kuwait as Professional Legal Consultants.

The meeting expressed condolences and observed two minutes silence on the demise of FORUM's founder Vice-President Adv. KGP Nair, who was a practicing lawyer at Pathanamthitta, Kerala.

New members - Adv Priyah Sashi,, Adv. Rajeshwar Kumar, Adv Merlin Arun, Adv. Remya Pradeep Kumar, Adv. Thampan and Mr. Francis were introduced to the Forum by Adv. Thomas Panicker.

The function began with rendering of Indian and Kuwaiti Anthems. Prayer song was sung by Miss SHEETAL and Miss MEBLE, trained by Mrs.Ambika Surya Narayanan, along with FORUM lady members.

General Secretary Thomas Stephen welcomed the guests and presented the 2005-06 annual report. He opined that LGF is sufficiently equipped to render suitable assistance to those who seeks Legal aid on both Kuwait and Indian Law. He said that total 9 meetings were held during the period besides reception to the former President of Kerala High Court Bar association Mr. Babu Varghese and conducted a Seminar on 'Right to information Act '. A picnic to FAILAKA Island was also organized.

'Onasandesam' the Onam message was delivered by advisor of the forum Adv. John Thomas. He emphasized the importance of the FORUM and advised all members to attend the meetings regularly as a social obligation. He enumerated many examples where the FORUM could effectively help Indian community members in their legal needs.

THIRUVATHIRA was presented by lady members Adv. Twinkle Chacko, Priya Sashi, Manju Suresh, Anjana Sanjay and Jennifer Thomas. Songs and Dances were presented by Sajitha and Shahita Kunjumohammed. Anas Puthiottil entertained the crowd with his melodious voice.

Miss Anamika Sashi, the award winning performer, presented Bharatanatyam, the classical dance of India. She enthralled the crowd with her excellent performance.

The Guest Orchestra Team 'Connections' under George entertained the crowd by their onam orchestra which included the onam songs, Nadodippattukal and film songs.

Function concluded with a grand Onasadhya. Program was ably compeered by Mr. Chacko Jacob. Adv. Tis Thomas, Suresh Pulickal, Anas Puthiottil, Twinkle Chacko, Manju Suresh, Anjana Sanjay and Bishnudas co-coordinated the program.

Adv. Thomas Daniel proposed vote of thanks. He expressed happiness on the large turnout of members. He opined that the Forum is effectively functioning and members are happy that they could effectively help the Indian community here.

'LAW GRADUATES' FORUM' CONDUCTS ANNUAL GET TOGETHER </P> "LAW GRADUATES' FORUM" Kuwait, the association of Indian Law Graduates & Lawyers working in Kuwait, conducted its annual Family get together at Royal Auditorium at Jleeb Al-Shiyukh on 11th January 2003. </P> President Advocate Palavilayil Thomas Panicker inaugurated the function. He expressed his satisfaction on the fact that the FORUM succeeded in its primary aim of bringing Indian Lawyers together on a platform, & working as a binding force among the Indian lawyers working in Kuwait. He emphasized the Forum's social activities for the benefit of members & legal activities to help the Indian Community in Kuwait. Panicker emphasized that FORUM for Indian lawyers in Kuwait is a unique Association among Non Resident Indians anywhere in the world. He thanked the members for the large turnout and helping to achieve the FORUM’s objectives. </P> Suresh Pulickal welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of family get together of FORUM members. </P> Advocate Rajesh Sagar, the General Secretary updated the members on the legal action being pursued against Air India & Indian Airlines on the exorbitant price increase before the honorable High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam. He stressed that the FORUM meetings are much beneficial to the members & give an opportunity to interact each other, & it reminded him of the Bar association meetings in India. </P> Advocate John Thomas, the Vice-President gave the New year and Christmas messages. He expressed satisfaction on the activities of the FORUM & declared that he felt very proud of being a member of this August FORUM. He enumerated that in the past month alone he was instrumental in helping 5 Indians legally in the name of the FORUM. John Thomas told that the legal services done to the community, the research & study done for preparing the successful Original petition and other such activities give ample professional experience to the FORUM members.</P> Felicitation speeches were delivered by Jacob Varghese and Benny Mathew Daniel. A memorandum against Khelkher commission proposal to implement Taxes on NRI earnings was presented by Jacob Varghese, which was passed for sending to the concerned Sections. </P> Dr Mohandas entertained the crowd with his melodious voice.. </P> New members Sunny Mathew, Gifty Williams, & Shashikala Ramesh were introduced to the Forum. Vote of thanks was proposed by Advocate Pyarilal. The meeting was followed by variety entertainment items presented by Mr. Samsuddin & party.</P> Adv. 'LAW GRADUATES' FORUM' KUWAIT ELECTS NEW OFFICE BEARERS.


"LAW GRADUATES' FORUM" Kuwait, the association of Indian Law Graduates and Lawyers working in Kuwait, conducted its annual General Body meeting at United Indian School Auditorium.

The meeting was presided over by President, Advocate Palavilayil Thomas Panicker. Large number of members attended the meeting.The meeting started with a prayer session remembering the victims of Gujarat Earth Quake. FORUM decided to co-operate with the rehabilitation efforts. Forum appreciated the efforts of Indian Embassy Kuwait to help the victims and decided to support and co-operate.

President in his presidential address highlighted the various activities of the FORUM. He detailed the Forum's activities to help the Indian Community in Kuwait and stressed the importance of the monthly meetings.He enumerated that about 20-25 people appraoch the Forum every month through members and directed by Indian Embassy to seek advice on the legal problems faced by them in India. He highlighted the services of about 14 FORUM MEMBERS who are working as LEGAL COUNSELS, ATTORNIES in local Kuwaiti Legal Firms. He thanked all Office Bearers and members for the support and co-operation rendered to achieve Forum's objectives.

President updated the members on the legal action being pursued by FORUM against Air India and Indian Airlines on the exorbitant price increase before the honorable High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam. President Panicker briefed that the case against the indiscriminate price increase is going on well. Air India and Indian Airlines have already submitted their different detailed counter affidavits and the case is posted for filing the Government of India's counter statement. Despite the strong objections and counter affidavits by Air India and Indian Airlines the LAW GRADUATES' FORUM KUWAIT is vigourously pursuing the case successfully to keep it alive. Since, many question of laws are to be taken care of,and Air India and Indian Airlines are coming up with new counter arguements and law points, the court may take its own time to come to a conclusion in this regard. Forum is doing all the efforts to keep the case going on and President Panicker requested every Indians and Indian Associations in Kuwait for co-operation and support in this regard. He appreciated the efforts and services of the Legal Team members, Aravindhakshan,Kuruvila Varghese, Adbul Harris, Jacob Varghese, Pyarilal, Sudhakaran, Rajesh Sagar,Sashidhara Panicker and Anupama Dinesh, in this regard.

Advocate Advocate David Issac, the General Secretary presented and circulated the annual report detailing all the activities of the Forum and Advocate Rajesh Sagar the Treasurer of the Forum presented the annual accounts. All members appreciated the services of the outgoing team of Office Bearers. The meeting was followed by the election of new office bearers and which was conducted by Advocate Sashidhara Panicker who is working as Legal Counsel in International Counsel Bureau. The below given New Office Bearers are selected unanimously.
