 The True Meaning of Christmas

It’s the Christmas season and all is not well,
I’m stress and feeling blue.
Things just aren’t getting done like they should
and there’s still so much to still do.
My family is sick and I’m tired and weak
and the days just keep passing by.
There’s shopping and baking and getting a tree,
I’m so overwhelmed I could cry.
I listen to Christmas songs night and day
just to keep my spirit high.
They remind me what Christmas is really about
not about how much I buy.
But then the songs over and I start to think
about the large task ahead.
And instead of just going and getting it done
I find myself heading to bed.
Christmas is usually a wonderful time,
It’s a special time of year.
I love to go shopping and baking is fun,
It’s awesome when Christmas is here.
There’s always so many fun things to do,
with family and with friends.
Like parties and singing and pageants too,
the fun just never ends.
So Jesus I'm praying that you’ll by my guide,
O Lord please help me through.
Remind me each day when I start to stress
that Christmas is all about You.
It’s not about presents or cookies or trees,
It’s not about candles that glow.
You are the meaning of Christmas O Lord
and that's all I need to know.
This Christmas I may be struggling through,
but I wouldn’t change a single day.
For as long as I keep Jesus my focus each day
I’m living my life His way.
I know He’s the reason for this time of year
and I praise and honour our King.
For Christ is in Christmas and will always be
the reason I worship and sing.
It’s Christmastime and I'll keep my eyes
on Jesus, the Babe so adored.
Things may not be done and my list still so long
but I’m focusing on my sweet Lord.
For He is the reason I celebrate Christmas,
my one and only reason!
So I’ll worship and celebrate my Jesus birth
this wonderful holiday season.
