LONG BEACH/SOUTH BAY DISTRICT GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
March 10, Call to Order: 7:00pm
I. Roll Call: Executive committee members, representatives, district members and non-members present per attached attendance sheets. Approximately 20 people were present.
A quorum (at least 11) was present.
II. Introductions/Welcome: Karen Frederick introduced the executive committee members.
III. Job Opportunities within the district were discussed per handout.
IV. Next general membership meeting is May 18th at Torrance Memorial, Steve Reischl
Is the speaker. Topic: Foot & Ankle
V. Representative from California Education Connection was present to announce and
Distribute flyer with the upcoming course info.
VI. Long Beach/South Bay district will be hosting a con-ed class Sept. 11th & 12th at
Long Beach Memorial on the Janda Approach. Course flyers were passed out
and attendance was encouraged. This is a district fund raising effort and all proceeds will
be put back into the district fund.
VII. Margaret Rood Award Presentation: Claire Beekman, former recipient, presented and honored 2004 Recipient, Mei Lee Chapple.
VIII. MOVE California: Stephanie Kaplan provided power point presentation on backpack safety. The ease of the presentation was highlighted. District goal of presenting at least 10 MOVE California presentations was discussed. Contact Stephanie Kaplan or Chris Powers regarding presenting. Stephanie will keep track of who/when is presenting from our district and report back to Chris Powers.
IX. Nomination Committee: Marianne Patino introduced the other nominating committee members. She encouraged everyone to consider serving in a position. All positions/terms will be posted on the district website soon. In the meantime, anyone with interest can speak with any one of the committee members.
X. Silent Auction: winners Denise Diener were announced.
