2006 Titans

   4/04/06 - Atlantic
A perfect night for soccer, over 60 and of course a good wind out of the South.  Atlantic came to town to start off our 2006 season and start it off we did.  We got off to an early start with Evan Summy scoring within the first two minutes of the game.  We scored early and often.  By the end of the night we were able to play everyone in the game and everyone actually got some good playing time.  We scored 11 points by the end and that was fun to watch.  Overall we saw some things that went very well and some things that we will need to continue to work on.  We will need to work on our focus, learn to finish and take advantage of the opportunities that are handed to us.  The missed opportunities are what will hurt when you get in the close ones.  Overall we are young.  We had 5 new starters on the field tonight who were new to the Varsity level.  We had some good ball movement and one moment of unselfish play.  In the second half Adam Larkin, in front of the goal, could have scored, but drops the ball to Tae You Kim to give him an opportunity to score as well.  This was nice to see and a true sign of being a team player.  This is what we are all about.  Congratulations to Riley Landolt for logging his first shut out of the season, and to Zane Brugenhemke for coming in the second half and getting the save.  Our goals and assists tonight were as follows, we had 11 goals and 9 assists - Dan Fischer 3 goals, 2 assists.  Adam Larkin 2 goals, 2 assists.  Tommy VonMende 2 goals, 1 assist.  Kyle Larkin 2 goals, 1 assist.  Evan Summy and Cory Jasek 1 goal each.  Logan Stichler, Ryne Goetz, and Tae You Kim had 1 assist each.  Our next game will be a good one as we travel to Glenwood on Monday.  This will be a whole different game then what we saw tonight.

JV also was a fun game to watch tonight as they got off on the right foot with a win.  They got started early as well, scoring the first goal early within the first three minutes of the game.  We played everyone in the game including giving three Varsity players an opportunity to step down and pick up some valuable playing time for one half.  Once we slowed down and started to look around and talk we played very well.  The freshmen really stepped up tonight and played together and everywhere.  Nate Jones played above all others tonight.  Scott Nelson took control of his game tonight and was making some good crosses and very smart ball placement.  Tyler Lowman and Tyler Meleny also made their presence known by being in the right spot several times through out the game and setting up several scoring opportunities.  Zane Brugenhemke logged his first shut out of the young season tonight, Congratulations.  JV scoring and assists went as follows - Kyle Larkin, Tae You Kim, Nate Dreager, and Chris Wenck each had 1 goal, and Tyler Lowman had two.  Assists tonight by Nate Jones, Brett Epperson, & Tyler Meleny.  This will be a fun and interesting year this year as we watch these guys grow up and develop.  Stay with us and we will do our best to keep you coming back.
