  4/09/07 - Glenwood
Conference Rival, conference win.  Glenwood comes to town for our season home opener.  Winds are blowing out of the south and Glenwood takes the wind the first half.  We move some kids around tonight to try something different and see if we can shake some things up.  The first half we are looking lost in the middle.  We are not talking and with that we find our self with 2 and 3 people in the same spot at the same time and running into each other.  We are called for a foul and the ball is placed about 25 yards out.  Glenwood sets the ball and hits it on goal, players are falling in the box everywhere, the ball bounces around and Glenwood finds the lose ball and scores with 12:26 left in the half.  We go into the second half down 1-0 but now we will have the wind the second half.  We tell them to play the ball on the ground, attack everything, keep talking, and win the middle and we can win this one.  Two minutes into the half Glenwoods keeper plays the ball out and Nate Dreager is there is pick it up.  He takes the ball and goes right back him.  Nate wins and the score is tied 1-1.  We actually looked like a completely different team the second half.  We are talking, we are controlling the middle, and are moving the ball around and attacking everything.  We put about three passes together, then on a one two punch, Evan Summy and Nate Dreager hook up on a great play and Nate puts away his second goal for the night.  We go up 2-1.  Seven minutes left in the game and the ref calls Ryan Cook for pulling on the Glenwood players shorts and awards a PK.  They put in the PK and we are tied at 2.  This is when the TITANS step up.  This was a moment of pride, self esteem, and an all out team effort.  We come back from the PK call and continue to attack.  Finally on a broken play from a throw in from Adam Larkin, the ball rolls off of the hands of the Glenwood keeper and rolls out.   The is touched several times and suddenly Roberto Gaytan finds himself one on one with the keeper and is 8 yards away.  Roberto puts it away with 3:42 on the clock, we go up 3-2.  Everyone steps up now at this point and starts winning everything and clearing everything.  We hang on and get a huge win for the team.  Cory Jasek, Ryan Cook, & Nate Dreager were moved to different positions tonight and all three played extremely well and really stepped up.  Adam Larkin, Kyle Larkin, Brett Epperson & Evan Summy played their hearts out.  Logan Stichler played well after returning from injury, and Nate Jones came to play tonight as he had several great crosses that were setting up opportunities that were right there.  This was a great TITAN team win for everyone.  We are back on the road Thursday as will travel to Sioux City to take on North.  The bus will leave the parking lot at 2pm.  Please plan on traveling with us as the support is always appreciated.

JV had to work tonight for what they got and managed to walk away with a tie.  Jaymison Coffelt really played a great game tonight as he was everywhere on the field.  Jaymison and Justin Carlson team up with the one two punch and Justin scores his 6th goal of the season and Jaymison picks up his 3rd assist.  We go into the half up 1-0 and manage to hang on all most to the end.  They manage to tie it up and that is the way it stays to the end.  It was a hard fought game and we pick up our second tie for the season for the JV.  We did manage to get everyone into the game again tonight as this was a tough game right down to the end.
