2006 Titans

   4/10/06 - Glenwood
Tonight was the type of game you love to watch.  This game was not over until the final whistle and there was no time to let up.  We came to play tonight with something to prove, that we were the better team.  Our defense tonight was outstanding, led by Alex O'Neil, Brandon Duffy, and Alex Seliak, all worked very well together shutting down any type of attack that they attempted to mount including any and all corners kick that they took.  We also moved Evan Summy into the Stopper position and he was everywhere.  Evan won any and all 50/50 balls that were in his area and made a difference tonight in controlling the center of the field.  Offensively tonight we got behind their defense several times having one on one situations with the keeper and should have put several of them away.  Offensively we were everywhere tonight and left them guessing several times.  We mark up man on man on their top player by putting Cory Jasek on Brady Blankenship.  Cory did an excellent job making Blankenship a non factor.  Over all it was a very hard fought battle and physical.  Riley Landolt picks up his second shutout of the season and played above and beyond tonight with some great saves.  The team awarded Riley with one of the best birthday presents you could ask for tonight, a win over Glenwood.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY Riley.  Enjoy the win, enjoy the 2-0 start, because Thursday Sioux City North comes to town as our schedule picks up and the games get tougher.  Congratulations boys on the 2-0, let's make it 3-0 on Thursday.

JV too was a great game, fun to watch, but turned out to be a heart breaker at the end.  This was the type of game where you give it your all, play your heart out, beat the team up and down the field, and walk away with a tie.  We moved some kids around tonight and played some people in different positions.  We did manage to get everyone onto the field and everyone got some playing time.  Some more then others.  My goal is to make sure that whenever possible, I get everyone onto the field in the JV games.  We want to win of course and we will do our best to do so.  It is good for all of the kids to play in these close ones.  Tonight I will have to take the blame for the lose for subbing at the wrong time and maybe not having the right people on the field at the end.  We found a good combination on the right side tonight with Chris Wenck and Nate Jones.  They had several nice give and go's that led to some beautiful cross balls that we just need to finish on.  We had several scoring opportunities in the first half that could have put the game away.  If you let Glenwood hang around they only get stronger.  We need to shoot more and not be afraid to put it on goal then be ready for the rebound.  The lone goal in the JV game from a nice move by Tyler Meleny to take the ball outside, then attack the goal one on one to goal, he shoots on goal and Miguel Perez is there to put the ball away with a nice bicycle move with the rebound.  It was a nice play that started with the moves of Meleny.  Great game tonight by keeper Zane Brugenhemke, I thought we might be logging his second shut out as well.  Then with 3:34 left in the game we give up a cheap one.  We must be able to play 60 minutes and not relax.
