2002 Titans

    4/15/02 - Sioux City North
Sioux City North came to town tonight and managed to take a little wind out of our sails. I say a little wind because there was plenty of it and we failed to use it. The temperature was perfect but the wind was blowing out of the south at over 30 mph. Our run to a perfect season came to an end losing 3-0. We had the wind advantage the first half and had several great missed opportunities with the ball just going wide or hitting off of the post. Daniel Knigge took several shots that were right there but not in the net. We failed to score and went into the half at 0-0. They came out used the wind and scored within 8 minutes to go up 1-0. By the end they scored two more and they headed for home with a 3-0 win. Justin Toole had a great game again tonight with some very nice saves or it could have been even worse. Seth Jackson stepped up last night and is getting better at talking and learning how to be a leader at the Sweeper spot. We went away from our strength and forgot what we had out there. We failed to use Daniel and when we did they would double him. When you play in a wind like we had tonight the ball has to be played to the feet, we failed to do that most of the night. The wind was a factor and they used it. It was a case of age and experience will prevail. Well on to the next one, St. Alberts comes to our field on Friday night. We keep asking for a Friday night game under the lights, well we got it. This will be a great match up again this year as in the past. We will work hard the next three days on offensive runs and possesion. We will be ready.

The JV fought hard tonight but failed to use the wind the as well. They got the wind advantage the first half and used it big. They hammered us hard the first half then fought us off the second half. We lost 5-0 but managed to show some signs of improvement. Two that played very well were Joel Edwards and Doug Junior. They both stepped up tonight and tried to make things happen and get things started. What we need to focus on with the JV is to make them feel like they can play together and that they are a team, not 11 individuals out there trying to do it alone. We need to recognize who is next to us, trust them, and use them. We will continue to work hard and grow as a team.
