2004 Titans

   4/15/04 - Sioux City North

What a game.  These are hard to lose.  We were fighting to defend a 9 game home field regular season win streak.  The last time we lost at home during the regular season was exactly 2 years to the date on April 15th in 2002 to, you guessed it, Sioux City North.   We lost then 0-3.  We didn't play well in the first half, we were out shot, and with playing a lot of defense, it is hard to score or win.  We are still playing flat like we haven't found our nitch yet.  We got beat to the ball, lost 50/50's, and made bad passes.  They scored first on a foul quick set play.  They executed it very well and with two touches the ball was in the back of the net with a very well placed ball.  I have to give a lot credit to Luke Thompson tonight for his effort in the goal.  They beat him up back there, he wound up with 19 saves and played his heart out.  If it wasn't for him being on his game it could have been a lot worse.  The second half we picked it up a bit and we were playing with heart now.  We have to save our win streak at home and they played much better.  Within the two minute mark we were given a shot at tying up the game when they called a foul on North inside the 12 yard mark.  We took a shot at it but after two tries just went wide.  We were right there, just fell short.  If we would have played both halves like we played the second half we might have had the game.  We fell short and wind up losing 0-1.  We are off now until next Friday when we will take on St. Albert's at home.  This will give us some time to work on some things but it seems like that is all we are doing is practicing.  Right now we are lacking two things, a leader and some one willing to step up and start scoring.

JV like Varsity played hard for one half.  We looked sluggish the first half just like we did with Glenwood.  We fought back the second half but couldn't manage to score.  We played well the first half of Mt. Michael and scored 4 goals and haven't scored since.  We wind up losing 0-3 and like Glenwood put nothing on the board.  Not sure if it is conditioning or we just lost our composure at the end, we are in the games each time if we could just score.  This goes for both JV and Varsity.
