2007 Titans

4/20/07 - St Albert's We traveled to St Albert's tonight to play our first city game of the season and the to take the first step to the city title.  Weather is good just a little windy.  Defensively we played well, as Cory Jasek, Brandon Duffy, and Ryan Cook managed to turn them away and muster the shut out.  We have a carbon copy of last year as the game goes down to the end and they manage to win at home with the last shot on goal in the shoot out.  We play to 0-0 at the end of regulation an go to OT.  After two 10 minute OT halves, we see ourselves in a shoot out just like last year at our house.  We shoot first,  and after exchanging goals and three shots we are up one as Riley makes a great save to get the first stop.  At this point Cory Jasek, Evan Summy, and Logan Stichler all score.  Adam Larkin is up, all he needs to do is score and the worst we can do is tie.  Adam hits it right at the keeper, they make their next one and we are tied.  Brandon Duffy makes our last of 5 shots on goal, but they manage to answer right back.  We now go to sudden death, the next goal wins.  We miss they don't, game over.  We played hard but not hard enough as we looked to our seniors and captains to step up.  Instead two senior captains get yellow cards with 3 minutes left in the first OT and I manage to get red carded trying to talk to the ref about what is going on.  I take ownership for my actions and will deal with the out come, I am looking to see if we have someone who can step up and take charge of this ship right now.  This is a very tough lose as they always are.   We need to continue to look forward regardless of winning or losing and press on to the greater achievements of tomorrow.  Due to yellow cards and injuries tonight I can say for sure that everyone on the bench except our back up keeper got to play.  We will have tomorrow off from practice with just one day to practice before we travel to Creston on Tuesday.  This will be another conference game for us and will be a tough one.  Please join us if you can.
