http://www.geocities.ws/Colosseum/Field/6609/sid2.jpg   4/28/09 - Creston -

We are on the road again tonight as we travel to Creston for a double header with the girls and a very important Hawkeye 10 conference game.  The girls played first and won a good battle 5-0.  We followed up right on their heels and rolled with the momentum from their game.  We knew it would be a physical game as it always is with Creston.  We needed to communicate at all times and control the flow of the game with possession.   We looked great right off the bat and scored just 2 minutes into the game.  Kyle Larkin plays a through ball to Nate Dreager on the side of the goalie box who places a great shot by the keeper.  Then 10 minutes later the Tyler show hooks up again as Tyler Meleney played another through ball to Tyler Butler and Butler chips it over the keeper to go up 2-0.  We stay on the attack and with 2 minutes left in the half Nate Jones plays in the ball in and Nate Dreager is there to put it away off of a keeper deflection.  We go into the half up 3-0, and it was everything we had expected.  To say it was physical would be an understatement.  The more we scored the worse it got as they were trying everything to get under our skin.  We asked the boys at the half to continue to walk away and keep their cool.  We could not get caught up in the pushing and shoving that was going on.  Stay under control and continue to control the ball, talk and you will walk away with the W in conference play.  The second half continued to be very physical and at the mid way mark a Creston player comes in on the goal one on one with Mark Richwine.  Mark comes out on the play, he goes down on ball as the Creston player comes in cleats up and takes Mark out of the game.  Mark took it hard to the back of the knee and had to be carried off.  In comes Jones, yes Nate Jones steps into the goal to try to maintain the shut out.  Three minutes later we score again off of a set play.  Creston is called for the foul about 18 yards out by the sidelines.  Nate Dreager sends in the high back door ball and Zack Shea reads it perfectly and heads it into the back of the net.  It was nice to see.  Seven minutes later Nate Dreager picks up his second assist with a perfectly placed corner kick.  He sends the ball high and deep again and Tyler Butler picks up his second goal of the night off a header.  Nate Dreager player hard and distributed the ball well tonight as he had two goals and two assists.  We let down just a second, stop talking a bit as we are getting tired, miss on a clear ball and Creston is there to beat us to the goal and put it past Jones for the goal and deny us the shutout.  We didn't stop there though as we came back and got our last goal with less then a minute left in the game.  Troy Mahood pushes a beautiful pass outside to Cody Hicks, Cody beat the defender and one touched it to score.  We finish the night 6-1, which puts us at 2-3 for the season and 2-1 in the Hawkeye-10 conference.  We used the bench tonight and everyone came through, Cody Hicks scores, Troy Mahood gets an assist, and Todd Whisinnand played like I have never seen him play before with some nice moves in the open field.  Great job everyone tonight.  Nate Jones did not save the shut out but he stepped in when needed and played very well including a great save coming out on a one-on-one.  Good job tonight by the defense, Ryan Cook, Chris Wenck, and Colin Duffy.  They stopped everything Creston threw at us.  We maintained our composure the whole game, showed some class tonight, and represented Lewis Central very well.  Congratulations Titans.

Join us on Thursday as we return home and welcome Kuemper to town for another Hawkeye-10 conference contest.
