2007 Titans

  5/07/07 - Harlan
Going on the road is always tough to do no matter what the situation.  Go on the road and have the Conference Championship on the line and that just adds to it.
Tonight we were on the road at Harlan and knew before we even left town that we would have to play hard, stay focused, and play with a mission.  We came out flat again and gave up a quick cheap goal right off the bat and went down 1-0.  Defensively we did not play well the first half as we just were not talking, it looked like they just wanted it more then we did.  Adam Larkin answers the goal and ties us up 1-1 and then moments later Nate Jones hits another to put us up 2-1.  They manage to get another one just before the half and we go in to the half tied up 2-2.  I put a challenge out to them during the half and reminded them what tonight's game was all about and what was riding on the line.  We come out and 55 seconds in the second half Kyle Larkin is there to put it in and get the quick goal, now 3-2.  A quick goal like that is always good to see and can make a big difference in a game.  It sets the tempo for the rest of the game and for what is to come.  We are playing a lot more focused the second half, we are moving the ball around, making good passes and playing like we can taste it.  Logan Stichler puts the finishing touch on the game with a great header, scoring the final goal of the game and puts us up 4-2.  We go into a solid defensive  battle, put Brett Epperson into the middle and he totally dominates the middle of the field.  Adam Larkin, Cory Jasek, and Riley Landolt all played a great game tonight as well.  The assists on the four goals tonight came from Nate Dreager, Brandon Duffy, Cory Jasek, and Kyle Larkin.  Great game, great win, and above all, Hawkeye 10 Conference Champions.  We won't have time to celebrate as we play again tomorrow night at home as we welcome cross town rival Abraham Lincoln.  As all city games go, this will be a battle to the finish so stop by again tomorrow and support your TITANS.  Congratulations to the TITANS, Hawkeye 10 Conference Boys Soccer Champions.

JV tonight lost a tough one 0-1 in a shortened game due to a wet field and falls to under 500.  We have two JV games left and need to see if we can finish above 500.  We will start with AL tomorrow.
