2007 Titans

  5/08/07 - Abraham Lincoln
Coming off of a big win last night and back home tonight we had no time to heal or relax.  Cross town Abraham Lincoln came to our house tonight for what turned out to be a fun game to watch.  Offensively and defensively we played well tonight.  We started out a little slow, maybe a little sore yet from last night, but once the game got going we picked it up.  We started off the scoring tonight just over 18 minutes into the game with a great on the money throw in by Brandon Duffy.  The ball was right on the mark, it bounced off of two people and went back door.  Tommy VonMende was covering the back side and was in the right spot to put it in the net, 1-0.  We go into the half up by one.  We have a little heart to heart talk and remind them this is our house, have some TITAN pride.  Then Richy hits it right on the head, he tells them it is time to take it personal.  That is what they needed to hear, like last night we come and get the quick goal again.  This time Cory Jasek sends the ball to Adam Larkin on the outside of the 18, Adam makes a turn, goes to goal, the defender falls and Adam puts us up 2-0 less then 2 minutes in the second half.  Then at the 19 minute mark Kyle Herren laid the perfect through ball to Tommy who is making a diagonal run on goal.  The ball is placed in the right spot and all Tommy does is meet the ball and scores his second goal of the night, 3-0  Defensively they never really did have any attack on our goal as Ryan Cook, Brandon Duffy, and Chris Navarrete played great.  Riley Landolt had 6 saves and Zane Brugenhemke had 3 saves as they put together our third shut out of the season.  We are a little banged up and will have three days to practice and recover before we travel to Norwalk this weekend for a tournament.  We are looking forward to the tournament as we did not fare to well last year and we have something to prove.  This is the time to come on, we want to be playing our best ball right now, win some games and raise that confidence level as we move into District play next week.  Please join us this weekend in Norwalk.  Move your mouse over Norwalk Tourney on the home page for driving directions.

JV took their first step tonight as I challenged them with two games left, finish above 500.  Chris Wenck stepped up tonight and scored his second goal of the season and we hung on to log the shut out.  Zane and Hunter Brugenhemke combined to log their third shut out of the season with one game to go next week on Tuesday against cross town Thomas Jefferson.
