My top 10 birds from around Britian and why they are:
A common small bird with an amazing loud song. They are common in woodland but also gardens.

Arrives from scandanavia in varying numbers and then feeds on berries. One of only 2 passerines in Britain to have a crest. Its colourful plumage gives it an instant likeability factor.

This small duck also come from up north in the winter and the male smews plumage is just black and white but done in such a great way.

A meditaranian bird that occationally visits Britain. Its crest is very large and a bird I would love to see for the first time.

In the UK this bird only lives in Caladonian pine forests in Scotland and it is the other passerine with a crest. It usually shows quite well and is quite vocal.

This bird makes its nest out of lichen and sticks it together with spiders webs. The northern long tailed tit is the subspecies we occationally get in the UK and it has a pure white head taking away the badger stripes in the UK species.

Introduced into Britain a long time ago this tiny owl eats small rodents and worms. It is possible to get great views and it can be seen in the day.

A bird that i've never seen but have tried a few times. It is white with a long bill which has a flattened end. Can associate with escaped Afrian spoonbills.

Everyones top ten bird, the kingfisher is a sign of good water quality. Its bright blue back and orange breast is a welcome sight as it zips along the waters surface on a frosty morning.

Arrives mainly in winter this bird impails food on the spikes of bushes to store food and to hold it while it tucks in. Eats insects and occationally small rodents.
