This is the childhood story of Yudhishthir, the hero of Mahabharat. He
is the one who first established the city of
Indraprastha, i.e. present Delhi.
In his childhood, Yudhishthir had lost his father and was required to
come with his mother and four younger brothers to stay with his uncle
Dhritarashtra, the great emperor of Hastinapur. He soon became known for his
wisdom, humility, truthfulness and love for justice. People of Hastinapur came
to look upon him as their future king . Even Dhritarshtra was obliged to
declare him as the heir apparent in preference to his own son Duryodhan who was
younger to Yudhishthir.
However, both Dhritarashtra and Duryodhan were unhappy in their
hearts over this arrangment. They both thought that if somehow
Yudhishthir died, and that too with his mother and brothers, then Duryodhan
could become heir apparent.
