Forever Close My Eyes
Copyright 2006:  Time For Change

Lightning crashing all around this shed I call my home
The rain is hard, the air is cold and it's my time to go
My face shows a man who's worked his fingers 'til they bled
My ragged jeans symbolize a man who's better dead

My children have abandoned me because I live the life
A broken man who has no will to live without his wife
And if they cannot realize the mental pain I bear
Who will be my guiding light in a world where no one cares

A winner in this game doesn't live until he dies
Comes full circle and completely lives his life
The raw air seems to rust the wheels turning in my mind
I'm here alive, in a matter of time I'll forever close my eyes

My lungs are charred from countless years of dealing with the past
The memories of my yesterdays have killed this man at last
My body remains with little color on it's skin
The veins within my hanging arms are closing deathly thin

Trembling knees, a man in need of shelter from the storm
A garbage bag to keep me dry, a blanket to keep warm
I can't say I've waited for this day, but my time is near
I'm too sick and weak and I can't breathe, lord get me out of here

Chorus

In my final days upon this earth I'd love to see me kin
But refuse to let them see me and see just how I've lived
If ever someone finds me they'll find this little song
I dedicate to little children who will never have a home
