Grimlok's Tail
Prolouge
Written By: The Legacy Master

Grimlok made a mad dash for the door of the hut as he heard a rap at the old rustic oak door. Taking hold of the dirty black handle he turned it. Opening the door he first saw a pair of old brown boots being geld together by a gold buckle. As the mouses eyes rose over the figure he saw a dark autumn green
coloured cloak fastened at the top with a glossy solver pin. The creature was bigger than Grimlok but not too much. It was a mouse like himself. The mouse must have come from the castle. He was a messenger much like Grimloks father but you could tell he was an apprentice by the colour of his pin. Grimloks father had a gold one which meant that he was a trained messenger and tracker. Grimlok stood staring at the mouse that had his head dipped trying to keep his head under the cover of the huts roof.

Come in, come in my son! Grimloks mum came striding over to greet the green cloaked messenger. You shouldve let the poor lad in Grimmy instead of staring at him. Grimlok smiled in embarrassment at his downfall to the guest. Go and sit down and finish your plum pudding. Grimlok stepped away and sat at the small round table along with his friend Drillo. Drillo leaned over the table towards Grimlok whispering, Who do you think that is Grim? Splints eyes looked towards the character sat in front of the hot warm fire. Grimloks mum had helped him take off his wet cloak and hang it on the tall, thin elm coat stand.

I am not sure but he looks as though has brought a note with him, look over there in his tunic pocket.
The Bluetails hut was a small wooden structure, inside was a burning fire along with a small wooden table and a few more accessories but it was very simple and basic, as was most of the other huts in the village. Grimlok and Drillo watched as his mother conversed with the messenger that had come in out
of the rain. Grodall isnt in at the moment he is still out in the woods practicing his sling shots. Mrs Bluetail spoke softly as she started the conversation. Oh, well can I leave this note with you then?
The mouse messenger from the castle said, while shivering. Grimloks mother looked at the envelope written with a green hawk plume. She knew note was about all to well, they had received too many she thought the past couple of months.

Yes, I will hand it to him when he arrives back. She tried to sound jolly but it just didnt work well. She was angry and frustrated. Her husband would have to leave again and no doubt need to take Grimlok with him for more paws to help with the trip. As she let the messenger to the door Mrs Bluetail called out. Dont forget your cloak Birch! The tallish messenger turned around and
unhooked his green cloak from the handle and stepped out into the drizzling rain, while Grimloks mother slumped back into the seat facing the fire. Grimlok looked at his friend Drillo then looked back at his mum. It looks like another adventure. But my mum doesnt look happy one bit. I feel so guilty about leaving her behind. It was good before when Splint was here. I would stay with my mum while my dad and Splint went on the jobs. Since he left it hasnt been the same. Grimlok spoke quietly as he aimed his speech to his friend.

I know what you mean when you say it has not been the same since Splint left. Now I have no one to talk with because you are always out on the jobs with your dad. I am so glad my dad is a farmer. Drillo returned the same unhappy whisper as Grimlok. The night settled into a deep slumber soon after that.
