Long distance riding can be done for fun and pleasure, you can also compete at a number of levels.
Pleasure, fun rides and indeed the shorter competitive rides can be under taken by any one with access to a horse, at this level all the family can take part.
There are national Endurance organisations, and many local riding groups hold rides.
