With Yugi's first duel over with, Jounouchi starts looking for an opponent. Joey starts to doubt his skills, but the gang reminds him of his sister. Unfortunately, he runs into Mai Valentine for his first duel.
Everyone thinks Joey is already done for, except Yugi. Mai uses a trick by putting perfume on all her cards so she can mentally psyche out her opponent. She starts off with Harpy Lady which gets a field power bonus from the mountain part of the field. Jounouchi's monsters are annihilated because his earth based monsters have a magical disadvantage to flying monsters (note: Only an anime effect). Joey then brings out Baby Dragon.
Mai triples her Harpy Lady by Elegant Egotist. Her battle phase must be skipped, so Jounouchi takes this opportunity to play Time Magician (e. Time Wizard) and the Time Magician's effect is successful. This ages the Harpies Ladies and turns Baby Dragon into Millenium Dragon (e. Thousand Dragon). Joey, then proceeds to destroy Mai's monsters and the rest of her LP with the Thousand Dragon's Flame Breath attack.
