The history of Bolognetta began four hundred years ago with a small nucleus of houses. It was then called Santa Maria dell'Ogliastro, or simply Ogliastro.  It aquired the name of Bolognetta at the end of 19th century. The town lies down the light slope of Cozzo Guardiola among luxuriant hills.  It was very important when it was founded since it is placed on Palermo-Noto way and it housed many travellers keeping their precious goods

A pleasant country having a mild climate and a famous holiday place, Bolognetta preserves its long history. The Mother Church, the palaces, the ancient houses, the modern monuments that make everlasting meaningful memories, the rural farms, the landscapes, are side-scenes of a stage where daily, people of the place still defend and disseminate the values around which their country has developed.

The view of the peasant world is depicted in its more intimate aspects in the House Museum, the allegoric parade of wagons during Carnival, & the feast in honor of the Patron Saint. These things  confirm,  in various places and moments, the strong tie that joins past and present, faith and traditions, territory and culture in Bolognetta.
