"Thus if one extends his kindness it will be enough to protect all within the four seas, whereas if one fails to extend it, he will have no way to protect his wife and children.'"

-Mencius

Well, I'm actually a college graduate! I'm leaving Barnard a scholar of Japan in the East Asian Languages and Cultures department at Columbia with a concentration in Anthropology. The actual title of my major here at Barnard is "Asian and MidEast Cultures," but I don't like that name, so I'm sticking with the University's title instead. :) Trying to find lots of EALAC stuff online was just too time-consuming, so for now you can check out my absolute favorites: Meiji ads from television, a Japanese-English translator , electronic cards, and, of course, the essays listed below.

Just some background: I've taken a heck of a lot of East Asian courses at Barnard and Columbia, including Millennial Futures: the Culture of Japan, Themes of Japanese Religion (in London), Modern East Asian Texts, and Religion in Chinese Society. I also completed six semesters of Japanese (Well, also two of French and two of Spanish.)(I'm also in fourth-semester Japanese) The following are from some of my EALAC classes! Enjoy!
