Good to be back on the Stiga for the third monthly tournament of the summer at Gerald J. Pytlewski's house in Lemont, IL. Da Bomber was in the house. Top CTHL (Coleco) player Jeff Farwell made an appearance. The big question, however, was this: could Rob Chargo continue his undefeated streak in LTHL play? The answer was yes. Dan Lord and Jim Rzonca were able to muster three ties between them versus Chargo, who continues to be The Man of Chicago-area Stiga. Chargo went 18-0-3, remaining unbeaten this summer. Dan Lord won the head-to-head tiebreaker against Jim Rzonca to take second. Da Bomber Garry Butler made an impressive return to active Stiga, getting ready for next month's U.S. Open, no doubt, going .500 on the evening to finish fourth. With eight players, that was it for the LTHL points for the night. We played a triple round robin that went quickly, about an hour or less for each round thanks to the timer CD. The LTHL debuted its new playing timer CD, complete with a Led Zep intro and Pulp Fiction surf music to close. The next LTHL tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m., a way for everyone to prep for the U.S. Open the following weekend. There may be a less formal gathering out Aurora way the weekend before.
