Back in L.A.
Frank Capra Jr., president of Screen Gems Studios, and Johnny Griffin, director of the Wilmington Regional Film Commission, are in Los Angeles this week following up on a few projects that might come to the area.

Now that there is a new director hired for Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Wilmington representatives are meeting with producers at Paramount and DreamWorks about bringing the feature to Screen Gems. Brad Silberling (Moonlight Mile, Casper) replaced Barry Sonnenfeld on the Jim Carrey project.

Mr. Capra and Mr. Griffin also will be meeting with producers for the television pilot Raven. The drama about a high school basketball team also is scouting in Charlotte. Sounds like Raven could be the thing Wilmington needs to replace Dawson's Creek, which wraps up production for good in April.
