October 26, 2004 The Dreamworks Fansite has lots of great new content, including exclusive screenshots!

June 3, 2004 Info on the trailer is at The Trades, thanks to Dark Horizons.

April 8, 2004 The link to a set report that I forgot to mentioned during the last update is now available in 'articles.'

April 6, 2004 There's a link to more screen caps in the gallery.

April 5, 2004 The trailer is available online at The Movie Box, according to Dark Horizons.

March 31, 2004 Ingrid sent the following links: trailer news and Dark Horizons movie page, including images!

February 13, 2004 Happy Friday the Thirteenth! Check 'articles' for an on set photo of a poster for "The Marvelous Marriage."

February 12, 2004 There are a couple of new articles. The biggest news (aside from the opportunity to watch Jude Law during the Oscars telecast) is that Mr Law's narrating duties are complete.

February 6, 2004 Two new articles, one an interview with Cedric the Entertainer, who states: "In Lemony Snicket's I'm playing the detective that's trying to figure out what's going on with Jim Carrey and these kids, so that's fun too." The film production continues to frighten me, as I don't recall any such character in the books. Perhaps Cedric is a member of V.F.D., but he doesn't look a thing like the photos of Jacques Snicket (who is known to have investigated Count Olaf and the Baudelaires). Ok, maybe I should save the rest of my nit-picking for the end of the year...and maybe not.

February 2, 2004 Happy Groundhog Day! I love Bill Murray. Anyways, there's a photo of Jim Carrey in his frightening Count Olaf make-up currently on the Net. Visit the Gallery to see it for yourself.

January 12, 2004 Happy new year! There's a set report and teaser poster up on AICN. Link in 'articles.'

October 27, 2003 Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde, Best in Show) has been cast in an unknown role. See 'articles' for more.

October 14, 2003 In an interview with Sci-Fi (see 'articles') Liam Aiken said that the script is pretty close to the book. There is hope.

October 13, 2003 A new interview with Mr. Handler is available in 'articles', and states that filming has begun.

October 9, 2003 E-mail's working again. Animation World Network today reported that the film will be released December 17, 2004, as opposed to Christmas day. But then, AWN also states that in the film "the Bauedelaires . . . are taken in by a series of odd people, including Lemony Snicket (Jim Carrey)", so they aren't the most reliable source. Unless the film drastically departs from the books, which I doubt.

October 8, 2003 Another Liam Aiken interview. Plus my e-mail's down again. No clue when it'll be back up. :' (

October 7, 2003 Just an article on actor Liam Aiken.

September 29, 2003 The North Shore Sunday reports:
" According to the Massachusetts Film Bureau, production on "Lemony Snicket," based on a series of children's books and starring Jim Carrey, will begin in Marblehead the end of October. "

September 24, 2003 Please check 'articles' for an interview with Emily Browning.

September 16, 2003 Variety today reported that Meryl Streep and Jude Law have been cast as Aunt Josephine and Lemony Snicket, respectively. See 'articles' for further details, including Violet and Klaus casting.

September 10, 2003 Today, Ananova reported that John Thomson has been cast in the Snicket movie. See 'articles' for details.

September 8, 2003 New link to a discussion board.

August 4, 2003 The DreamWorks Fansite now has a separate ASoUE page, which is available from the 'links' page.

July 30, 2003 According to Variety, Barry Sonnenfeld is no longer directing Fun with Dick and Jane. The Jim Carrey film's original production start date caused a delay in the Snicket production. As Fun will now not begin filming until March 2004, there is a possibility that production on Snicket could begin late 2003 instead of early 2004. Please check 'articles' for complete details.
Oh, and The Z Review has finally admitted that they were wrong about Christy Carlson Romano playing Violet.

July 21, 2003 Today, Dark Horizons reported the following:
" Lemony Snicket: The production has rented the LA Paramount sound stages, the biggest film production the studio lot has had in a long time, with production to begin in January. "

July 16, 2003 Apparently, last month Jim Carrey signed on to do another movie which begins filming this fall (further evidence that he's an insatiable attention whore). Therefore, the Snicket production has again been delayed, and will probably start November or December 2003. There's an 'article' about it. Plus, new but mostly useless 'links' are now up.

July 10, 2003 I just checked the US Copyright Office's website, and A series of unfortunate events : a screenplay by Daniel Handler, 133 pages, was registered with 'em on November 20, 2002. Just thought you might want to know...

May 12, 2003 I've gotten a couple of e-mails about Unfortunate Events Online reporting Christy Carlson Romano's casting as Violet and Ricky Owens as Klaus. This according to Z Review, a site which I generally mistrust. Z Review gives 'AcidRain' as a source for the information (originally posted in April), whom I'm guessing is probably a random fan. No vaguely reputable news source has reported this casting information yet. This information is currently in Wild Unconfirmed Rumor stage.

May 8, 2003 Variety has just reported that Robert Gordon (Galaxy Quest, Men in Black II) will be rewriting Daniel Handler's screenplay. Check 'articles' for details.

April 4, 2003 I just noticed an image on the Counting Down board that is purported to be the official logo for the movie. You can see it in the gallery.

April 3, 2003 I found a new-ish 'article' that just confirms that the film is in pre-production and remains scheduled to begin filming this fall.
