My career….. is a Doctor
There are two types of doctors :  Medical Doctor (M.D.) and the doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.)
I want to be a Pediatrician(M.D.) because I have always enjoyed being around small children.

What Does An M.D. Do?
M.D.’s treat all kinds of diseases .
Some are family doctors, baby doctors, or doctors who know about our insides.
M.D.’s take care of diagnosis, care and treatment of illness, injury deformity, or other anomalies in Humans.

Preparing for the Job
It usually takes about 11 years to become  a doctor.
You would need to go to  4 years of college and 4 years of medical school.
After medical school, doctors go to work in hospitals for a few years;  They are called residents.

Preparing for the Job (Continued)
When a doctor is finished with medical school and goes off to be a resident, he/she will not get paid the full salary of a real doctor.
Even though residents are considered doctors, they are still in some sort of training.

Tasks of a Doctor
A doctor over looks records, reports, and other and medical conditions of a patient.
They monitor patients regularly and tell them how they are doing and make them feel better.
A doctor also does several kinds of operations whether it’s to remove, repair, or improve functioning body parts.

Reading Comprehension-understand what you are reading
Science-use scientific methods to develop new useful ideas
Active Listening-listen to what others are asking or telling you
Speaking-talk to others with valuable information in a nice steady voice.

Some abilities that a doctor must have are:
Arm hand steadiness-you must have the ability to keep your arm steady while holding one’s hand as to not prevent nervousness

Wages
The Wage or salary  that a doctor makes is in between $54,142.00 and $207,979.20
Although a doctor does get paid very well, I would do it just to make people of all ages feel better
The  more you know about new technology having to do with a doctor, the more you will be paid

What the Job is Like
About one third of doctors have worked up to 60 hours a week
Older doctors are most likely not to be that busy since the have to mainly concentrate on the patients they’ve had and don’t have to worry on receiving new patients
Doctors who are on call, meaning that anytime an emergency occurs they have to be there, will sometimes have to travel from wherever they’re at to the hospital

Medical School
There are 142 medical schools in the United States
Out of  the 142 schools, 125 of them offer an M.D. degree
