ABATE Legislative Day
March 9th, 2005 - Springfield, IL

This is the first time I went to Legislative Day in Springfield. All I can say is...GO TO ONE! It's really a cool thing to do. Since I didn't really know what I was doing there, I spent most of my time watching those who have been before many times to see what goes on. It would seem the object is to meet with our senators and representatives either in their office or by pulling them out of session to get them to support bills that are friendly to motorcyclists. And, it is important to get a resounding "yes I will support that" rather than an "I'm with you on that". An "I'm with you" is not of much help.

Also, if you have never been to the capital in Springfield, it is worth the trip just to see how beautiful it is. So romp through these photos and you will see what we were up to that day.

The Illinois State Capital. Man, that spire is high off the ground. You should see it from inside.

Not sure who these guys were, but they sure did admire that new Harley Deluxe.

Jim talking something over with some gal in the capital.

Bobby and Cheryl Pearre (pronounced Perry). Cheryl was fun to say the least.

This will give you an idea of how many people are in the capital at any one time during session. It was fun going through the crowd.

Jim Rhode, Todd Sieben, and Bob Carroll in Todd's office. Todd didn't mind us all hearding in there to meet him.

I believe this is the house side before session started as you can't have any cameras in there during session.

There were many groups of people posing by the new Harley Deluxe for PR photos for their chapters. We were in the hotel across the street for the evenings events.

My pal Brian Wing chatting with someone from another chapter at the reception later that day.

More people meeting and chatting with representatives at the reception.
