Amitabha
one of the most popular buddhas, red in color, hands in meditation gesture, has a pure land called Sukhavati, where huge jewel trees, enormous lotus ponds and palaces are results of his pure actions and vows to benefit all sentient beings. Amitabha usually has the bodhisattvas Avalokiteshvara and Vajrapani in peaceful form on his sides.
Sukhavati can be considered both as a state of mind and a real world that a practitioner can be born to. Generally, it can be quite difficult to be born in a pure land, but the Sukhavati Sutras state that birth in Sukhavati would be possible for even an ordinary person with enough faith and concentration at the time of death.
Amitabha is also one of the five dhyani buddhas, embodiment of discriminating wisdom.
