FIRST CHURCH OF GOD
LENA, LA

Easter

We don't actually begin our Easter services at sunrise, but come 7:00 a.m. the events begin. Some have actually been there since about 6:00 or 6:30 a.m. preparing a wonderful breakfast. The early morning service begins at 7:00 and is held in the garden area, located just outside the entrance to our sanctuary. Three wooden croses stand just behind a hollow, empty, cave-like stone with the inscription "He Is Risen." The garden is beautiful year-round, but on this morning is is especially striking as it is usually in full-bloom and having just been manicured by our garden-specialists. Chairs are set up circling the garden and the electric piano an portable podium are placed at the entrance.

Following the morning service all are dismissed to the fellowship hall where we enjoy a hearty breakfast, followed by our regular morning service. This year our choir presented a musical presentation of "The Offer Still Stands." A musical about the offer of salvation that is still as real today as it was 2000 plus years ago.

The day is always special, but this particular day, the Spirit always blesses us with his presence.

Pictures will follow soon.
