Note: This tombstone could be identified based on the sign, used as signature, by Bongaert as Alderman of Oude Oostdijk. The "G" in the initials must be read as a "C" . The initials EKP remain unknown.

  • (#23) Job Melse Jaquyer bur. 13 Nov 1726. , On May 5 1694 he became schoolmaster; and on 13-11-1726 a new schoolmaster was appointed to replace him. His parents are probably Mels Cornelisse, bap. (Mennonite) May 12, 1658 and Neeltje Joppe, bap. (Mennonite) on July 25, 1660 in Ouddorp. According to Mennonite member list they went away after Whitsun 1662.

I don't think she can be it, because the size of the tombstone relates to a tombstone from the 18th century. A second, more likely possibility is that the grave is for a member of the Kastelein family, also named Koninck. Cornelis Arens de Konink from Goedereede signed in 1653 as Sherif\Alderman of Oostdijk with a similar mark. (Also listed in #55 is Balten Couwenburgs Kastelein and Balten Cornelisz. Kemper. In 1515/1516 he was installed as priest in Goedereede, as the successor of Adriaan Florisz, the later pope Adrianus VI. He himself was succeeded by Johannes van Aalst, who in turn was succeeded in 1520/1521 by Nicolaas de Hamalia, because of his death.
