This is a sample of the dozens of models at Randy Ayers Home Page. I'll include a quote from his page describing his build of this model, but I recommend if you wanna see lots of NASCAR models this is the site to visit!
"This is the car that 1995 WC Champ Jeff Gordon drove in the 1997 Winston
All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 17 of last year. It was decked
out with a special "Jurassic Park the Ride" paint scheme.
The kit is a 1997 Monogram Monte Carlo and the decals are from the kit. I had to
get a slixx contingency decal sheet because the kit contingency decals were
neither accurate nor complete! Also the ones I used weren't totally right either
but they are a lot closer than the kit decals and besides I had to make them fit
in front of the 24's which were too far forward!
Painting and Decals:
The chassis and body interior are standard light grey (2 parts white and 1 part
grey). The exterior of the body is red. I airbrushed the body red and when dry I
masked the skirts and painted them flat black. I then applied the decals to the
body. I first applied the large #24 to the roof and the Dupont logo on the
trunk. Next come the rear quarter panel decals.
The decals for the door areas go on next these overlap the rear quarter panel
decals and include the #24's. Next I applied the little Jeff Gordon decals over
the windows and the pillar decals. Then the headlight, grill, Monte Carlo and
Little #24 decals on the nose. Then I applied the contingency decals and the
Quaker State DUPONT and little #24 decal (once again 1 piece) to the rear of the
body! Lastly I applied the hood decal which again as with the #5 Kellogg's model
was a bit of work! Once again I had to get all the air bubbles out and make it
lay down in the grooves on each side of the hood! This decal only slightly
touched 2 of the hood pins so I didn't have to do any cutting to get it to lay
down! Once the decals were dry I applied a final coat of high gloss enamel, let
it dry and painted and installed the windshield and misc. clear parts. I then
applied the tire decals and painted the center caps and hood pins! All that was
left was installing the body on the chassis and I was done!"
