Darrell Waltrip's 1996 PARTS AMERICA Monte Carlo
By Rich Soucey, Jr.

Quote from Rich:
"...The model started out with the old Monogram Monte Carlo kit & Slixx decals. I used a combination of Metro-Authentic airbrush paint and Tru-Match paint. I used Tru-Match primer, #24 Neon Red, White, and #6 Blue. I bought one airbrush bottle of Raybestos Blue and #3 Silver from Metro.

As the blue fades to a lighter color, I kept adding more silver to the blue to get the fade right. I started painting the body by priming it; then I masked the car where the Neon was to be painted, then I painted it white. Then I masked the car so I could paint it #6 Blue in the rear. THEN, I painted the very first fade of silver in the front of the car, because I used a comination of the Raybestos Blue and the #3 Silver to mix the colors for the rest of the faded colors. After that was done, I masked off the painted parts and painted about 10 coats of Neon Red.

Then I clear coated the Neon color, since Tru-Match Clear Coat is NOT compatible over Metro paint. But, Metro Clear Coat IS compatible over Tru-Match paint. "
