Captain Richard Owings (M) b. circa 1660, d. 1716
Captain Richard Owings http://bl-12.rootsweb.com/~mdannear/firstfam/all/owings1.htm
"Descendants of Capt. Richard OWINGS/OWENS of Anne Arundel and Baltiore Counties.
The early information on the Owens/Owings family has some disputed facts, in particular the parents of Capt. Richard Owings himself. It appears that there were several Richard Owens/Owings in Maryland before 1710, and several genealogies have combined facts on different persons with this name into one individual. Some information in early genealogies has been proven false, but the unanswered questions exist."
Owings and Allied Families 1685-1985 A Genealogy of Some of the Descendants of Richard Owings I of Maryland compiled by Addison D. and Elizabeth S. Owings; 1985; Gateway Press,Inc., Baltimore
Richard Owings was in Anne Arundel County MD by 1685. He is listed as a debtor to the estate of Christopher Randall. It is not known when Richard left England for America but he probably brought his wife, Rachel Beale, and his infant daughter, also Rachel, with him when he emigrated. He died before 1726 in Maryland.
He was born circa 1660 at Wales.
He married Rachel Beale circa 1683.
Captain Richard Owings died in 1716 at Baltimore, MD.
