This is an example of a 'Bren Gun Carrier' similar to the ones used by my dad in Italy.

Mainly used for scouting purposes, some carriers were equipped with flame throwers for infantry support purposes. Although proof against small arms, their only defence against even the lightest enemy armored vehicle, was maneuverability & speed (the 30 mph max speed governor was disabled by coasting down a hill & letting the clutch out when you hit about 65mph, my dad said you could get about 75mph out of one after that!)
