Doug�s first screen appearance was in the TV series The Weekly Illustrated Hudd, which starred Roy Hudd, in 1965.
He made guest appearances in lots of British TV shows including Yes Minister, Home to Roost, Sorry!, Goodnight Sweetheart, Jonathan Creek and Heartbeat but his career was mainly in the theatre.
He�s best known for the recurring part of Larry Simmonds, in the ITV sitcom Man About the House.
His final role was as a clergyman in the TV mini series Oliver Twist in 1999.
He died of a heart attack on July 9 2000 at the age of 59.
