REUNION NOTICE # 3
Needs PROMPT Attention
5 February 2005
Reference: VII CORPS LLRP CO (ABN) ASSN TRAINING DIRECTIVES
Subject: Reunion planning update and barracks accommodations
Dates: May 11 - 14, 2005
Headquarters: Motel - Days Inn, Arlington
John Fisher and Kirk Gibson have done our reconnaissance of the premises and conclude that they are not as bad as some places where LRRPs have slept. The 82d Airborne Assn and other Airborne and police organizations have used it for their reunions, so we figured it can handle the LRRPS. Their website is http://arlingtondaysinn.com/home/ There are also nearby refreshment opportunities, reminiscent of the Rod and Gun Club.
For reservations you must contact the Days Inn at 703-525-0300 X 368 and talk to Jan Boothe or e-mail her at [email protected]. Do it soon, as rooms are going fast.
We have reserved a number of rooms for 11 through 15 May, but can hold them for only three weeks. There are single, double, smoking and non-smoking rooms on a first-come, first-served basis. The rate is $76.50 per day. Mention VII Corps LRRP Assn. I expect there will be some sharing, so please reserve only what you need so we can accommodate all.
We have also reserved a meeting room with TV, microwave, small refrigerator, etc.
Training Agenda: Presently, we plan a day in DC to include significant memorials. Also, we are trying to organize a jump with a nearby club.
Wednesday: Arrive and mingle. Greet Col Maltese
Thursday: DC tours, Changing of the Guard at Arlington
Friday: Jump (hopefully). Other activities are being developed for those not interested.
Saturday: Morning open. Afternoon and evening cookout at Maltese Kaserne.
Transportation: The website has directions by METRA (light rail) from Reagan International Airport and driving directions from all directions. We will use the METRA for much of our transportation needs in and out of DC. There will also be some of us with cars to assist with transportation needs. Further, there MAY be bus transportation available, depending on the size of our group.
Progress: We have heard from more of you, and we are assured of a good turnout. For those of you who have not responded, we can only assume that you can not come and we will miss you. Or, change your mind and let us know ASAP.
Warning: There may be a slight head charge, due to anticipated TOE costs. We will keep them down and will inform you as soon as possible.
Fiscal message: Our organization is viable only as long as we can afford to be. For those of you who are neither current in your account nor Life Members, 2005 dues ($25) are now being accepted. Please remit to Kirk Gibson, Treasurer. A financial report will be presented at the reunion.POINTS OF CONTACT
