Gundam RX-78 Close Up
Here is the Gundam RX-78 Chogokin toy by Bandai. This is my favorite version of the RX-78 ever made by Bandai. This figure has a diecast chest and feet. The rest of the figure is made of plastic.
This figure is action packed with lots of articulation and accessories. Take a look at the various pictures, which only give a sampling of the possibility of this toy.
The sculpting of this figure is top notch as it captures the essence of the original design. The sculpt was done in the original animation style. It isn't an updated version like the Master Grader RX-78. This may disappoint some fans but I like the original look of the animation.

The Chogokin RX-78 is my favorite toy of the RX-78. But I still haven't bought the Prefect Grade RX-78 so that may change.
Take a look at the pictures of the Chogokin RX-78 and see what you think. I believe this toy is well worth the price of admission. If you are a Gundam fan you have to buy this toy. The only complaint some collectors have with this toy is its small size. The RX-78 is only about 5 inches tall in height.
There is no such thing as the prefect toy so even the Chogokin RX-78 has some problems. The joints of the RX-78 are thin and in turn weak so you have to be careful when adjusting the figure, as the joints can be broken. I've heard alot of complaints from collectors who had mistakenly broken their Chogokin RX-78s. I've had mine awhile without any problems. Just be careful with the toy and you'll be all right. The RX-78 also suffers from some loose joints.
There are currently two types of the Chogokin RX-78. There is a Japanese version and a Hong Kong Version. The Japanese version has plastic with a weathering paint job while the Hong Kong version has a pure white job. I have the Japanese version. If you take a real close look at the upper thigh of the RX-78 you can see some yellowish coloring. Thats the weathered paint job.
Here is the hero of the original Gundam series. Amuro Ray is the pilot of the legendary RX-78 Gundam. Bandai goes the extra mile by including a diecast figure of Amuro.
