A Solectria Force NiMH electric sedan established a new distance record by completing 249 miles on a single charge in the 1997 North East Sustainable Engergy Association American Tour de Sol, using state of the art nickel-metal hydride batteries produced by the Ovonic Battery Company. Solectria broke its existing record of 244 miles, set at the 1996 Tour de Sol.
