DUSTAN KAMANA
AMBASSADOR TO U.S.: 1992 -
Dunstan Weston Kamana, a Zambian journalist and diplomat, was born April
19, 1937 in Choma.
He was educated at St. Mark's College in
Mapanza and joined the Northern Rhodesia Government service in 1959. He was
named First Press Secretary at the Zambia's High Commission to U.K. in 1964.
Kamana was later appointed as President Kaunda's press secretary in 1965 and later
as Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
He served as director of the
Zambia Information Services 1966-1968; director of Zambia Information and
Broadcasting Services 1968-1972; Editor-in-Chief of the Times of Zambia 1968-
1972; General Manager of Dairy Produce Board 1972. He also served as Zambia's
Ambassador to U.S.S.R 1972-1974; Zambia's High Commissioner to Canada 1974-
76; Permanent Secretary to U.N. 1975-77. He was appointed Zambia's Ambassador
to United States in 1992.
