The festivities for het abdication and the new Grand Duke Henri have taken place.
The new grandducal family made a radiant expression.
All the crown-princes and princess were invited. Willem Alexander of the Netherlands came alone, he did not bring Maxima. However Haakon Magnus of Norway brougth his fiancee Mette Marit.

7 october 2000

The ceremony for the abdication was planned on 28 september. Due to the fact that prince Guillame, the son of the grand duke, and the brother of the new grand duke, was in coma, the ceremony are postponed to 7 october. This ceremony is sober, while festivities will take place in spring 2001.

10 september 2000

Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla had a terrible accident with their car in the neighbourhood of Paris. Prince Guilluame was in coma from 10 september until 2 october, having a headinjury, and Princess Sibilla leg is broken on two places. She has left the hospital after a week.
Fortunately, their three childeren were not in the car.

Grand duke Jean will abdicate in september 2000 in favor of his elderst son, the heritary grand duke Henri.
The ceremony will take place on 28 september 2000. Check the news-links above also for more information.
