An account of my 1996 Motorcycle Vacation

This is a rather long winded, but I hope quite thorough, account of the vacation I took in the Summer of 1996 on my 1992 Yamaha Virago 1100. I originally started writing this for the Virago Owner's Club newsletter in 1996, but after I sold the bike in November of that year, I lost interest. Many things have happened since I took that trip: In 1997, I was recalled to active duty to serve in Bosnia and Croatia; in 1998, I moved from North Carolina back to Denver; In 2000, I graduated college and began law school.

Well, now it's 6 years later, and I have finally finished my narrative, spurred on by the many conversations I've had with people on the internet who are contemplating a similar trip and wondering if I can give them any advice. I hope this narrative can help out those of you who are thinking about taking a long motorcycle trip of your own and would like to learn from my mistakes rather than from your own.

Enjoy the tale, and please feel free to email me with any questions or comments on my story.
