Once upon a time, a long time ago there (be) an old lady called Bertha. She (live) on the third floor of our block of flats. She never (talk) to anyone and always (keep) very quiet. One day, when she (take) her dog for a walk, we (meet) shortly in the corridor. I (greet) her nicely and (wish) her a lovely day. She (not/say) much, she just (murmur) something and (make) her way out of the staircase.
Later that day, I (hear) that while she (walk) her dog, she (lose) her purse somewhere in the park. She (look) for it desperately, when a tall dark man (jump) out of the bushes, (knock) the poor old lady down and (grab) her handbag. Then, he (run) away. Bertha (still/lie) on the grass when a group of young men (find) her. One of them (call) the police and the paramedics immediately. While they (wait) for the police to arrive, they (try) to make the woman comfortable. When the ambulance (arrive), Bertha had already regained consciousness and (look) for her purse again.
