Last summer, John and Liz (go) on holiday to Austria. Originally, they (want) to spend a few days in the capital and then travel around the countryside. The day they (arrive) in Vienna it (rain) heavily, so they (decide) to stay at the hotel and look around the shops a little. They (see) many wonderful things and even (buy) their first souvenirs. Surprisingly, Liz (manage) to find a lovely tea set that her mother's family (own) when Liz (be) still a little child. She just (have to) buy it on the spot.
The weather (take) a turn for the better and Liz and John (go) for a lovely walk around the city. While they (admire) the cultural sights of Vienna, Liz accidentally (leave) her handbag at a small coffee house in the city center. Naturally, they (head) back immediately and (find) out that the manager had taken it to his office. The waitress showed (show) them to the manager who happily gave (give) back the whole handbag with its possessions to its rightful owner. Liz (seem) very happy. She even (persuade) the manager to keep ten euros as a small token of her appreciation.
At the end of the day, both Liz and John (look) forward to spending another lovely day in Austria as they really (get) to like the country a lot.
